Thank You To So Many

Mike Riversdale • April 3, 2025

It's always time to say thank you, so, "THANK YOU!"

A thank you to Kerry and Cherell

A low vision Age Concern member had a broken guide cane and came to us to see if we knew who could fix it. We called Kerry's Upholstery Specialists (1 Hokio Beach Rd) and asked if they could look at it which they absolutely agreed to. We drove the member down immediately and they fixed it on the spot for a small fee and she was on her way again.

Another reason to pop into us at 526 Queen Street East, it's not just about the services as our team are a hive of information and will always go that one step further to help our senior community no matter what the enquiry.

Thank you for the blankets

It makes a massive difference to our seniors as we inch ever closer to the cold times.

We are doing a BLANKET DRIVE the month of APRIL. Please bring in (Age Concern Office 526 Queen St East) any **CLEAN** blanket for our seniors that need a little warmth this coming winter. Thank you for helping our community!

Thank you to each and ever member

Our "why" is for everyone who thinks of themselves as a senior ("elderly") in the Horowhenua District+ region but this thank you goes out especially to our amazing members who bring the office and everywhere else we're at alive - THANK YOU!

Thank you to the fantastic SAYGo Peer Leaders

A shout out to Glenda Roswell, Denise Windle, Clare Davidson, Jeremy Rumbal, Margret Burnell, Jan Bowater, and Lyn Wood for being peerless in their SAYGo (exercise class) leadership and for giving up their valuable time to help others. Thank you.

Thank you to our neighbours

Thank you Euan from AA Auto Centre Levin (next door), a super nice guy who helped us out recently.

Massive THANK YOU to our volunteer receptionists

We have many volunteers, the SAYGo peer leaders above, and all those that give up their time to visit seniors around the community (a separate post is coming for them), this time though it's for the wonderful ladies that take time to welcome you to the office or pick up the phone when you call. They aren't paid by us, they are volunteers that donate their time, knowledge, and smiles because they want to - we would be lost without each and every one of them, seriously it would grind to a screeching halt very quickly, and they are so much a valued part of the team!

THANK YOU Adele, Cecily, Elaine, Lyn, and Tina.

And finally ...

I (Mike) want to say THANK YOU to the team that make it all happen - thank you, you are awesome!

And, as always, 3 useful links:

Oh, and if you can help us out with a whiteboard we would be so grateful ... details here!

A woman (70s?) wearing a pretty bee brooch on her t-shirt is stopped in the street by another woman (20s?) in bright green tights. Green Tights woman cheerfully says: "I love your brooch!" Bee Brooch woman says: "I love your tights!" Cheerful fashion conversation ensues.

An extraordinarily dapper man (80s?) wearing a three piece tweed suit, a bow tie and brogues is sitting in front of an art gallery with a friend. They're both drinking coffee from large mugs, Dapper Man topping his up from a hip flask with a wink and a cheeky grin.
